What I Do
Rebecca Wiasak is a field-tested bikepacking and outdoor gear review site. My mission is to bring honesty to a market saturated with sponsored "best of" lists. Each guide takes one category, loads the gear onto my actual bike or into my actual pack, and ranks what is left on weight, durability, weatherproofing, and cost per year of use.
I ride and camp with this gear myself, and I spend hundreds of nights outdoors putting bags, tents, stoves, and apparel through real mileage before writing about any of it. The work is field testing, not a spec-sheet summary. I do not accept a product on paper. What I do is remove the two things that make gear shopping hard: marketing photos that hide how something performs in the rain, and listings that quote a spec rather than how it held up on day four.
From bikepacking bags and ultralight tents to cycling apparel and camp cookware, every guide is written and re-checked by me before publication. Where a product has not survived enough miles for me to have an opinion, I say so rather than filling the gap with confident-sounding copy.
What I Stand For
Miles over marketing
Every figure I publish comes from a real multi-day ride or camp-out, never from the spec sheet or the product photo.
Same conditions, every product
Weight, packed size, and cost per year of use. Normalizing the numbers is what makes a comparison honest.
Re-checked, not self-published
I go back through every weight, capacity, and durability claim against my own field notes before a guide publishes.
Not enough miles named as such
For gear I have not yet tested through a full season, I say that in the guide instead of writing around it.
About the Author
Who writes and tests every guide
Rebecca Wiasak is a Seattle-based bikepacking rider and outdoor gear reviewer. After years of loaded touring across the Pacific Northwest and beyond, she started this site to publish honest, field-tested reviews of the bags, tents, and gear she actually rides with. Every review on this site is written, field tested, and fact checked by Rebecca herself before it publishes.
How I Make Money
Affiliate disclosureRebecca Wiasak is reader-funded through affiliate commissions. When you buy through a link on this site I may earn a commission, paid by the retailer rather than by you, and it does not vary by brand or product.
No manufacturer pays for placement, a score, or a mention, and no brand sees a guide before it publishes. I do not accept sponsored reviews, free product in exchange for coverage, or paid inclusion in a comparison table. Where a product I rank highly has no affiliate program, it still gets ranked highly.

Everything on this site is educational. It is not route guidance, a fitness or medical assessment, or a substitute for your own judgment, local trail conditions, and weather reports.
Bikepacking and backcountry camping carry real risk. Check conditions, tell someone your route, carry appropriate safety and navigation gear, and get advice from a local guide or ranger station rather than from a buying guide, including mine.
Corrections & Contact
Models get discontinued, specs get revised, and prices move daily. If you find a figure that no longer matches the current listing, tell me. I check it against the manufacturer's current spec sheet, fix it in place, and note substantial changes in the update line at the top of the guide. For anything else, the contact page has my details.
